LATEST & GREATEST: NEW REVIEWS, HOT PREVIEWS & CLASSIC GAMES
THE
LEGEND OF SPYRO: THE ETERNAL NIGHT
Spyro
has been around for a long time... nearly ten years now. It's
the series that got Insomniac going and though it has faltered
along the way, I'm proud to say that Spyro is now responsible
for one of the best GBA games ever.
Part
of the Legend of Spyro trilogy, the GBA version of Eternal Night
really came out of nowhere - now find out inside why you simply
can't afford to pass it up.
NICKTOONS:
BATTLE FOR VOLCANO ISLAND
Nicktoons
Unite! Use four of your favorite Nickelodeon characters to run,
jump, and blow bubbles to help save Volcano Island. SpongeBob
and Co. must travel through portals throughout the island and
find electronic pieces that allow them to call their friend Jimmy,
who will help them rid of the monster terrorizing the place.
But
being a game aimed at children, should you bother giving this
one a try? Read on to find out.
FINAL
FANTASY V ADVANCE
Continuing
the Final Fantasy SNES-to-GBA revival project, Final Fantasy V
Advance brings forth an often overlooked classic RPG that never
received a proper English introduction - until now.
With
updated presentation, additional features and - most importantly
- a brand new script translation, there has never been a better
time than now to take part in this RPG's dance of nostalgia. Venture
forth into our review to find out more!
MAZES
OF FATE
Take
your mind back many years, to the days when names like Lord British
ruled the landscape of role playing games.
Mazes
of Fate takes elements from the history of computer role-playing
games and meshes them together into an independent release that
comes near the end of life for the GBA. Does this new classic
send the platform off with a bang or a whimper? You should know
by now that there's only one way to find out!
TOM
AND JERRY TALES
Ah,
that lovable cartoon duo, the cute little mouse and the big, dumb
cat who is constantly outwitted and then exposed to hideously
painful situations as a result. No, I'm not talking about Itchy
& Scratchy! Don't you know who they're based on? This is the original
here, this is Tom and Jerry.
Now
you can enjoy some interactive cat and mouse antics in the palm
of your hand, the question is, will you be scoffing it down like
cheese or just end up chasing your tail? Find out inside!
SONIC
THE HEDGEHOG GENESIS
Oh
Sonic, what has happened to you? We remember the good old days
when you were a blue blur of a powerhouse, blitzing through ingeniously
designed levels at a speed that would make even the Road Runner
jealous.
But
time has not been kind to our spiky-haired friend, especially
of late with his disastrious attempt to take him to the next generation.
Surely a nostalgic trip back to the beginning on the GBA can't
go too far wrong though? Can it? Zip inside to find out!
ERAGON
Isn't
life funny sometimes? Who'd have thought that a 'lowly' GBA game
would be even deeper and more involving than the bigger budgeted
console version? Yeah, yeah, go on ahead and laugh, but you'll
be as surprised as I was when this one showed up. Heck, now I'll
absolutely have to see the film when it comes out just to see
if it's as well done as this is!
But, enough pre-review prattling... you need to save up your reading
for the real thing, which is conveniently just a click away!
SCURGE:
HIVE
If
you're one of those folks that are scared of trying new things,
you'll want to break that nasty habit right now - especially if
you're a Nintendo DS owner.
South
Peak Interactive and Orbital Media have yet another surprisingly
good game that introduces a cool new character who will seem familiar
in some respects. In this case, familiarity definitely does not
breed contempt, as Jenosa Arma's first adventure makes for quite
a decent game experience. Read on to find out why.
POKEMON
MYSTERY DUNGEON RED RESCUE TEAM
It's
true. I used to be a human, but now I'm a Pokémon - I can't understand
it! Still, I'm getting used to being a small adorable Squirtle,
and besides, I think Jigglypuff fancies me. I don't like her though
- she's a bit of a Chav when you get to know her!
I
don't know whether I should become a human again, or stay as I
am and rescue some Pokémon with my friend Charmander. A job? What
is it? Jigglypuff's in trouble? She's drunk again? I told her
to keep off those Alchopokés! Come on, let's go!
GUNSTAR
SUPER HEROES
Yes
it's an oldie, but it's also a goldie, hence the reason it's being
put in the spotlight in our Latest & Greatest section.
Gunstar
Super Heroes is a classic action shooter that hearkens back to
the golden 16-bit era of gaming, and a follow up to the acclaimed
Genesis/Megadrive hit, Gunstar Heroes. Come inside now to find
out why, over a year after its release, this is still one of the
best GBA games out there.
