UFC
fans usually clash with wrestling fans, and vice versa. But why
should we cater to just one audience?! We're unleashing our Ultimate
Fighting Championship reviews on the readers, and we expect a
TKO!
Find
out what we think of the DVD releases for UFC 33 & 34 inside -
just make sure you put on your gloves, and no hitting below the
belt - this isn't wrestling after all!
UFC
ULTIMATE ULTIMATE 1995 & 1996
They
say boxing is a gentlemen's sport, so what does that make UFC?
I don't know, but if there's one thing I do know, it's that these
guys know how to give each other a pounding!
This
DVD is for when ultimate just isn't enough - this is the ultimate
ultimate in UFC entertainment! Actually, that's just a bare-faced
lie... It's actually the name of the competition from way back
in 95 and 96, and the most interesting part of this collection
is to see just how far the UFC has come in the past decade or
so...
ULTIMATE
JAPAN & ULTIMATE BRAZIL
This
UFC box set is a little more ultimate than the Ultimate Ultimate,
which is ultimately quite ironic when ya think about it!
Again
we take a warp back in time to the first two competitions that
took the UFC beyond the US, invading Japan and then Brazil for
some fearsome fighting action. Come inside to find out if this
is worth a watch or ultimately should have just been left to gather
dust in the UFC archives...
THE
COVENANT
The
Covenant is the story of four young men blessed with the power
of many generations, who are the custodians of a 300-year old
secret of magic lore.
Now
they must fight to protect their legacies from one who has an
unquenchable thirst for power and will stop at nothing to accomplish
his aim. Is it a scary thriller, or just frighteningly bad? Find
out inside!
JEKYLL
- SERIES 1
It
seems that James Nesbitt can do no wrong as he moves from one
fantastic project to the next, constantly impressing with his
acting prowess - and now it's the very wrongness of what his character
in Jekyll is doing that makes his performance so, um, not wrong.
Or something. Okay, I've confused myself!
The
point is, this is one of the best BBC dramas to emerge for sometime,
so come inside now for this excellent new twist on the classic
tale of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde... if you dare!
DEATH
LIST
I
had a death list once. It's similar to a hit list, but this has
people on that Death himself wants killed. The idea is that if
you dispose of a few of his clients that are past their expiry
date, then Death will reward you in ways you couldn't possibly
imagine. Cue the evil laugh... Muhahahahaaaaa! Ahem.
Anyway,
I don't think Death List the film is anything like my Death List.
Maybe my idea is better though, or it could be a lot worse. There's
only one way to find out though, so we'll see you inside!
WRESTLEMANIA
23
Wrestlemania
is the biggest event in wrestling and WWE fans are in for a treat
once again. The main feature displays some awesome action from
many of the biggest names in the business and there is a huge
amount of additional footage/matches in the extra features, enough
to make your eyes turn square for a month!
So
sit back and enjoy, but don't forget to take regular breaks and,
whatever you do, don't try this at home!
WRESTLEMANIA
III - CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION
Wrestlemania
III features twelve matches with WWE legends, including Hulk Hogan
vs Andre The Giant, Randy "Macho Man" Savage vs Ricky "The Dragon"
Steamboat, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, British Bulldogs and Jake "The
Snake" Roberts, as well as guest appearances from Aretha Franklin
and Alice Cooper.
So
if that sounds like your cup of Spandex, then get your muscle-bound
butt inside, baby!
GOING
TO PIECES: THE RISE AND FALL OF THE SLASHER FILM
Going
to Pieces is an "account of the horror phenomenon that exploded
onto movie screens in the early 1980s" and features interviews
with genre directors Wes Craven, John Carpenter and Sean S. Cunningham,
as well as FX wizards Tom Savini, Greg Nicotero and Stan Winston.
Documentary
style horror might make for interesting viewing for all those
folks who grew up loving gory horror, so come inside now, if you've
got the stomach for it!
THEY
LIVE
John
Nada (Roddy Piper) is a quiet loner, a drifter who gets work whereever
he can find it. While working on a construction site in L.A. and
sleeping in a vagrant community at night, John stumbles upon a
secret society of alien beings who pose as wealthy and powerful
people in human society. John joins a rebel group committed to
exposing this conspiracy, becoming their reluctant leader - and
the human race's only hope.
Don't
be put off though - it might sound cliché, but our reviewer loved
it! Come in and find out why...
