SAN MATEO, Calif. — October 17, 2007 — Capcom® Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced Dark Void™, a highly innovative action title, is in development with platforms being confirmed shortly. Developed by Airtight Games, Dark Void will deliver a groundbreaking combination of fast-paced vertical combat mixed with mid-air and on-foot action. Dark Void is currently scheduled for release in winter 2008.

Something is consuming out universe, a vast and ancient force almost beyond our comprehension. Millions of years ago, the minions of that power found their way to the 3rd planet of an unremarkable yellow star. Ours. The race they created came to call their masters “The Watchers.” For millennia we knew them as gods and served their dark purposes, but a few humans developed extraordinary powers. They were known as the Adepts and they rose up, banishing The Watchers into a parallel universe, where they’ve manipulated and schemed from afar. Until now.

Scot Bayless VP Product Development commented: “We’re really excited to be partnering with Airtight on this project. Collectively the team has a proven track record in delivering high quality titles and the addition of creative talent from the film, television and comic book industries plus the invaluable experience of Airtight’s co-founder, Ed Fries, provides a winning combination.”

President of Airtight Games, Jim Deal added: “Capcom has consistently been at the forefront of innovative game development and when the opportunity arose to work with them we jumped at the chance and are all looking forward to a successful relationship.”

CAPCOM® ANNOUNCES RETURN OF BIONIC COMMANDO®

CAPCOM® ANNOUNCES RETURN OF BIONIC COMMANDO®

Classic Action Title Rearmed for the Next-gen

SAN MATEO, Calif. — October 16, 2007 — Capcom® Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today confirmed the return of one of its classic franchises with the announcement that Bionic Commando® is in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Sony Computer Entertainment’s PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) and Windows-based PC.

Taking its inspiration from its 8-bit namesake released on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1988, Bionic Commando features Nathan Spencer (voiced by former lead singer of Faith No More, Mike Patton), a shining example of the technological advances made by the Federal Bionic Armaments Development Division. After distinguishing himself in a fierce conflict against the Imperials, Spencer is betrayed and falsely imprisoned by the very people he unquestioningly served.

Three years later, on the very day he is due to be executed for his supposed crimes, an experimental weapon detonates in Ascension City, unleashing an immensely powerful earthquake coupled with a radiation shockwave that leaves the city in ruins, wiping out its populace. Military intelligence suggests that a large terrorist search force has moved in and occupied Ascension City, but as yet their motives remain unclear. With the terrain in ruins and the terrorists in control of Ascension City’s air defenses the FSA has only one option open to them – the reactivation of Nathan Spencer.

Bionic Commando harnesses the power of the latest generation of hardware to fully exploit the swing mechanic that made the original title so unique. The ruins of Ascension City and its surroundings provide an engaging environment of towering buildings, suspended roadways and monorails, deep canyons and sheer rock faces that allow gamers to traverse each area via multiple routes using swinging, rappelling, climbing and wall walking techniques.

An expertly trained operative, Spencer is able to target and take out enemies while hanging upside down, climbing a building or even in mid-swing. At close quarters, the bionic arm packs a mean punch, while from a distance, objects such as boulders and cars can be grabbed and launched at enemies.

The development team behind Bionic Commando represents a unique and compelling collaboration of cultures and skills, consisting of an American Producer living in Japan, a Japanese Creative Advisor and highly-rated Swedish developer GRIN providing a European influence. This partnership provides a further example of Capcom’s strategy to work with the best developer talent, while maintaining the unique elements of creativity and approach to game design for which Capcom is renowned.

The official Bionic Commando website is now live at http://www.bioniccommando.com/.

Players will step into the shiny wingtips of Harvey Birdman, a third-rate superhero turned third-rate defense attorney charged with exonerating parodied classic cartoon characters.

Over the course of the game, players must guide Harvey through a series of odd and comical cases. Each of the game's five interactive stories takes the winged crusader of justice to familiar locations from the TV show. In order to prove his client’s innocence, Harvey must peruse the scene of the crime, gather evidence, talk with other cartoon characters, occasionally have drinks with opposing council, and of course, tear holes – no matter how ridiculous – in the testimony provided by the witness for the prosecution. Harvey must bring the whole story together to defend his client in a court where anything can happen… including a confrontation with the prosecution who brandishes a Shrink Ray Gun. With outrageous gameplay and the comical antics of hilarious animated characters, players and fans alike will feel that they are not just taking control of a character, but actually taking part in a brand new episode of Harvey Birdman.

CAPCOM® RELEASES MEGA MAN STAR FORCE™ FOR THE NINTENDO DS™

Blue Bomber Celebrates 20th Anniversary with a New Series Debuting in Three Versions

SAN MATEO, Calif — August 7, 2007 — Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today released Mega Man Star Force™ for the Nintendo DS™, the first game in a new Mega Man® series, debuting in three versions – Pegasus, Leo and Dragon , a first for any Mega Man title. To date, the Mega Man series has generated more than 100 titles, the most of any Capcom title, with sales of more than 27 million units worldwide. Mega Man Star Force is rated E for Everyone by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) and is now available for a suggested price of $29.95.

"Mega Man is one of the gaming industry’s most iconic franchises and the series continues to evolve," said Jack Symon, director, brand marketing, Capcom Entertainment. "Mega Man Star Force kicks off a new, innovative series in three versions, offering fans even more ways to enjoy their favorite blue hero."

This unique action RPG blends exploration with fast-paced battles, as players travel between the real world and virtual Wave World. Developed by the team behind the popular Mega Man Battle Network® series, the game marks the start of a new era for Mega Man, which celebrates his 20th anniversary this year. In Mega Man Star Force, players explore towns and interact with people in the real world while the action-packed battles take place in the virtual dimension. Enemy encounters take place on a three by five grid, where players use a portfolio of Battle Cards that each have distinct attributes and attack powers. As the story progresses, players will acquire additional cards and can build an arsenal that reflects their personal strategy. Players can also connect wirelessly via the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection with friends to create a "Brother Band" network, where they can share cards and status upgrades.

Set in the year 22XX, Mega Man Star Force introduces all new characters in a fresh, futuristic storyline with interspatial themes based on astronomy and wireless wave signals. As main character Geo Stelar, players must vanquish a new breed of enemies that have emerged from the distant planet FM. Using a pair of special “visualizer” glasses that let him see wave signals that are otherwise invisible to the human eye, Geo and a mysterious ally named Omega-Xis must join forces to transform into Mega Man in order to enter the virtual "Wave World" and defeat the aliens from FM.

'AceGamez at E3' Update - 6:40PM PST

Damn! My feet hurt, my back hurts and I am in massive need of caffine (thank goodness for all the free Coke!), but I have returned from a busy, busy day of E3. After ate lunch, I went off to see what SOE had brought to the show. While showing off a few titles, I focused on the most interesting of their PC titles: Pirates of the Burning Sea and The Agency. Pirates of the Burning Sea is actually essentially finished - the developer would have shipped what they have here as the finished product had SOE not stepped in and given them another year to make the game perfect. Allowing you to live out your wildiest pirate adventures in a MMO setting, Pirates made an impressive showing at E3. Custom flags and masts, an ever-changing world that can change between PvP and PvE at any moment as well as an economy that is solely held up by the players, and a battle system that involves much more than just clicking and pressing hot keys round out the Pirates experience I was shown today.

The Agency, a FPS/3rd person hybrid MMO, was shown in true playable form, as it was actually a movie file of the developers playing it that was shown. After a brief breakdown of the gameplay - which includes Operatives that will work for you even when you aren't playing so even when you don't play you won't get far behind friends - we were shown the gameplay video. With stylish graphics that are more over-the-top and unique than realisitc and refined controls, The Agency looks like, if it can captialize on all the genre-pushing ideas the developers have, could be the next big thing. But enemy A.I., gameplay balance and spreading the experience too thin with too many options are concerns I pulled from my experience today.

After that, I went off to the Barker Hanger, which is the closest thing to the old E3 of booths and games that is here. I was able to get my hands-on quite a few awesome titles, but as the media room is about to close (I am always having this problem!), I will short list them for now.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (WII) - Graphics are above average for a Wii title, the new Zapper controller is comfortable and effective for the gameplay. Not sure how much depth is in this game, but my small taste did perk my interest.

Zach and Wiki (WII) -Vibrant graphics and 3D point-and-click adventure controls seem perfectly suited for the Wii. Gestures are used to interact with the world with more than just clicks. As long as the puzzles and characters stay interesting, this will be a winner.

Hellboy (360, PSP) - The 360 version is shaping up decently, with gameplay that will satify both the hardcore and casual gamer. Interactive environments are fun, combos are varied, graphics are decent though some of the textures could use some work. The PSP version, surprising, looks pretty good, with some really crisp textures. Gameplay isn't as solid though, as it feels a lot like every other beat-em-up on the system.

4 minutes before I get the boot, so I have to cut this short again. Sorry, but expect more tomorrow!
