Golden Axe, now with added dimensions
Five new screenshots of Sega's forthcoming Golden Axe update, Golden Axe: Beast Rider have just hit the internet and it's looking pretty special. Apparently a prequel to the original side scrolling sword and slaughter classic, the screenshots answer the question that's been burning on every twenty something gamer's lips since the new game was announced: will we be able to ride Dinosaurs? The answer, it seems, is a resounding yes. As well as mutant, scaly Gorillas and Wolf-Rhinos by the looks of things.
Whilst the graphics are looking impressive, and the game mechanics we know and love all seem to be in place, it still remains to be seen if Golden Axe will be able to make the giant leap into the next-gen. It's sad to say, but a lot of legendary Sega titles (Sonic, I am looking at you) have failed miserably to make the change into three dimensions, losing the charm and the playability that made us all love them in the first place. We'll know whether Golden Axe: Beast Rider falls prey to the same shortcomings when it's released in September.
