“MYST ONLINE: URU LIVE” SEASON FINALE LAUNCHES TODAY

Finale wraps up a dynamic season of new Ages, puzzles and player-driven plotlines

ATLANTA – November 1, 2007 –GameTap, the first-of-its-kind broadband entertainment network from Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), announced that the season finale for its popular multiplayer online game “Myst Online: Uru Live” will launch today.

“Myst Online has been a great addition to our roster of GameTap Original titles,” said Ricardo Sanchez, GameTap’s vice president of content and creative director. “With our recent change to make content updates occur on a regular schedule, Myst Online is another example of how the episodic format can be effective across different styles of play.”

This season started in February and has already introduced multiple Ages, puzzles and dynamic characters that have drawn players into the ever-changing world of Uru. For the first time ever in a video game, the choices, actions, and experiences of the players themselves have helped drive the ongoing live storyline, which has expanded throughout the season.

“We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to launch ‘Myst Online: Uru Live’ with GameTap,” says Rand Miller, CEO of Cyan Worlds and co-creator of Myst. “Being able to bring this dynamic world to the fans of the franchise and a brand new audience of explorers has been a great experience.”

Over the past several months, the great underground cavern of D'ni has been home to many ups and downs. Numerous new areas of the cavern have been restored, granting Explorers access to amazing new worlds and places. However, the road has not been easy for the D’ni Restoration Council (DRC) as they’ve had to overcome tragedies and adversities ranging from petty in-fighting to horrific, unexplained deaths.

Now the DRC must deal with the emergence of the Bahro creatures and the questions that have come with them. Each Council member has his own opinions on what will happen next. Will the Bahro War bring destruction to the cavern? Will the DRC find funding for further restoration work? There has been great progress. There have been setbacks. Still, the future remains as cloudy as ever.

In the season finale, Explorers will be able to explore new areas of Uru, including the new Age of Ahnonay, K’veer Island and Myst Island. In Ahnonay, an Age of deception, mystery and visual wonders spanning thousands of years, players will witness the deterioration of a rugged landscape as they travel through time to uncover the truth. It will require cooperation, investigation, a keen eye, and the comprehension of a subtle and clever ruse.

“Myst Online: Uru Live” includes elements unique to the Myst franchise, including the use of books as teleportation devices, exploration through wondrous, immersive worlds, and mind-challenging puzzles that can be solved alone or with a group. Myst Online also includes all of the key social features such as text and voice chat that make today’s massively multiplayer online games so popular.

New players interested in playing Myst Online can join the adventure now and play for free by visiting www.mystonline.com. The website also offers ways for players to catch up on the currently storylines and to receive a variety of hints and tips.

GameTap Gets Grimm

Scheduled for a spring 2008 release, American McGee’s Grimm is a 24 episode story-driven action-adventure game that immerses players in a storybook world inspired by the originally darker tales of the Brothers Grimm. Packed with a compelling collection of vividly drawn characters from Cinderella to Rumplestiltskin, the game plays out like stories in an anthology and combines exploration and action with arcade gaming conventions.

“American McGee is one of the best known and most dynamic developers in the industry today and Grimm is the perfect fit with our GameTap Originals brand,” said Ricardo Sanchez, GameTap’s vice president of content and creative director. “American is really exploring the potential of episodic game development. Adding this exciting new title to our list of already successful episodic game titles shows our commitment to this proven format.”

In keeping with American’s distinct development style on his smash hit game American McGee’s Alice, fans can expect the same twisted treatment of children’s classics, in addition to a fantastical art style, and groundbreaking gameplay elements. American McGee’s Grimm will immerse players in a world built around some of the best-known fairy tales, including Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, and Snow White.

“My interpretation of these classic fables will provide gamers with an entertaining and interactive way of experiencing how the stories were originally meant to unfold,” said American McGee, creative director for Spicy Horse. “The ‘chapters’ inherently lend themselves to the new episodic model that GameTap has perfected.”

Players will experience the game in a sandbox world which contains missions assigned in episodic fashion. Game and narrative concepts equivalent to TV cliffhangers will be used to create game play and story interest to encourage players to keep up with new releases.

EA ANNOUNCES THAT "THE SIMPSONS GAME" HAS SHIPPED IN NORTH AMERICA

EA ANNOUNCES THAT “The Simpsons Game” HAS SHIPPED IN NORTH AMERICA

You’ve Watched the Show, You’ve Seen the Movie, Now Play Your Favorite Animated Family in their Best Videogame EVER!

Redwood Shores, Calif., – Oct. 30th, 2007 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced that THE SIMPSONStm GAME has shipped in North America and will ship in Europe on November 2nd. Created in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising, Twentieth Century Fox Television and Gracie Films, THE SIMPSONS GAME is an original script created by the TV show’s Emmy Award-winning writers and voiced by the original cast from the TV show. The result is the funniest, most irreverent, exciting and authentic Simpsons video game experience ever. “Our hope is the number of solid jokes and the speed in which they come, set ourselves apart,” said James L. Brooks, Executive Producer.

In 2007, The Simpsons celebrated their historic 400th episode, as well as the release of their first animated film, The Simpsons Movie, which has grossed over $520 million worldwide at the box office, hitting the No.1 slot in the first week. Now fans of this multi-award-winning television series are ready for the next major milestone: THE SIMPSONS GAME.

With parodies of the video game industry, pop culture and current events, THE SIMPSONS GAME has the same subversive humor and delightfully smart wit as the critically acclaimed TV series. Play along as your favorite yellow, dysfunctional TV family members, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, battle to break free of the video game world and save Springfield. Each ‘Simpson’ has special abilities unique to his or her personality: smash as Homerball, zip-line as Bartman, rally Mobs as Marge, or unleash Lisa’s Hand of Buddha! With over 40 minutes of new animated scenes by the show's writers -- it's like getting two never-before-seen episodes of the Simpsons. Add that to over 8000 lines on in-game dialogue, and the Simpsons game is a must-have for any fan of the show.

"The story is the heart of the game," said Matt Selman, Simpsons Executive Producer and Head Writer of the Simpsons title. "The Simpson family realizes they're living in an actual video game. At first, it's fun having video game powers. But when life as a game character is harder then they thought, they must break out into the behind-the-scene world of video games. They must fight their way through parodies of other games in order to achieve their freedom."

“Playing THE SIMPSONS GAME is like choosing which donut to eat. The fun lies in the wide variety, but no matter which way you go it always brings a smile,” said Scot Amos, Executive Producer for the game. “The close collaboration among Gracie Films, Twentieth Century Fox and ‘The Simpsons’ creative team makes this game a sweet addition to ‘The Simpsons’ legacy.”

Elie Dekel, Executive Vice President, Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising, added: “When you team up one of the best video game companies in the universe with one of the best television shows of all time, you know you’re going to get a game that delivers. THE SIMPSONS GAME is a completely original creation that adds to The Simpsons’ enduring legacy.”

Under development by EA’s Redwood Shores Studio, THE SIMPSONS GAME is scheduled for release on the PLAYSTATION®3 and PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, Xbox 360™ videogame and entertainment system, Wii, and Nintendo DS. THE SIMPSON GAME has been rated “T” with descriptors of Alcohol and Tobacco Reference, Animated Blood, Cartoon Violence, Crude Humor, Language, Suggestive Themes by the ESRB.

In the game, players star as their favorite candy-filled Piñata from the popular Saturday morning animated series including Franklin Fizzlybear, Hudson Horstachio, Paulie Pretztail, Fergy Fudgehog, and more as they compete for fame and fortune in more than 50 distinct mini-games and races across Piñata Island. “Viva Piñata: Party Animals” features Xbox LIVE and local multi-player contests, like Burps Ahoy!, where colorful Piñatas send burp fueled sailboats across Lake Piñata! Nothing gets a hungry Piñata’s candiosity up like a sweet, yummy caramel apple! Players bob their way through Caramel Apple Gobble taking big bites out of the fruit, chewing it up as fast as they can to be the first one done. Or they can squeal with delight as they tackle Blown Away – a game of hot potato unlike any other – where they trick their pals into being the one left holding an exploding jack o’ lantern.

Plus, gamers will love taking on the persona of several new characters in the Piñata line-up who are ready to get their game on:

Hailey-Horstaio-Cute_Pose

Meet Hailey Horstachio: There’s only one way to describe Piñata Island’s newest Spanish sensation, and that’s “Muy Caliente!” No other Piñata combines style, glamour, and spice quite like Hailey Horstachio. Always seen at the right party with the right Piñata at the right time, Hailey’s already established herself as a super-chic fashion icon who sets the trend every time she steps out on the scene. She’s also a great athlete, and believes winning the competition will launch her star into the stratosphere, while also reminding another certain Horstachio that there’s a new horsey on the block.

Petunia_Pretstail-Cute-PoseMeet Petunia Pretztail: Petunia may appear soft-spoken and well-mannered, but buried beneath that quiet exterior is a karate-chopping, kung-fu-fighting thrill seeker. Since arriving on Piñata Island from the Land of the Rising Sun, Petunia’s daredevil-may-care antics have made quite an impression, good and bad. Some, like Paulie, find her aggressive streak a little intimidating, while others, like BFF Hailey Horstachio, appreciate her live-in-the-moment attitude towards life. Ultra-competitive and always up for a new challenge, Petunia can’t wait to test her skills in the competition, score a big victory, and hopefully score some one-on-one time with a certain brainy Pretztail.

“Viva Piñata: Party Animals” is designed especially with friends and family in mind. Doritos Xbox LIVE Arcade Games Enter Beta

Fan Votes Will Determine Winner To Be Announced On November 19, 2007

PLANO, Texas (October 29, 2007) — Today, the Doritos brand unveiled the five playable Xbox LIVE® Arcade game demos – formally known as betas, in this early stage –conceptualized by each finalist in the Doritos Unlock Xbox challenge. This first-of-its kind opportunity invited fans in the United States to think of an Xbox LIVE Arcade game idea that brings to life the bold spirit of the Doritos brand. Now through November 18, 2007, fans can play each beta game at www.snackstrongproductions.com and vote for the one they want to be developed into a full scale Xbox LIVE Arcade game for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment console. After voting closes, fans can continue to play each beta game online.

While much more detail and depth will come with the development of the winning concept, online beta versions give gaming fans everywhere the opportunity to get an early glimpse into the tone, look and feel of the five finalists’ visions. Consumer votes will determine the winner who will go on to have their Xbox LIVE Arcade game brought to life from the ground up by Xbox 360 and renowned video game development studio NinjaBee, a subdivision of Wahoo Studios. NinjaBee has a track record of publishing quality games for the Xbox LIVE community, including such hits as Cloning Clyde, Outpost Kaloki X and Band of Bugs.

Once released in summer 2008, fans in North America will be able to download and play the fully-developed first-ever consumer-created Xbox LIVE Arcade game for free.

“The passion and excitement our fans exuded throughout this collaborative process is just what Doritos empowerment is all about,” said Ann Mukherjee, group vice president, marketing, Frito-Lay. “We gave our finalists access to game developers to build the betas, but it was their own dedication and creativity that brought each game to life. We can’t wait for gaming fans everywhere to start playing the beta games so they can experience the fun for themselves."

Between August 20, 2007 and October 26, 2007, the finalists worked hand in hand with a team of professional developers to transform their creative visions from paper to playable betas that embody their intended tone, appearance and experience, at this early creative phase. From the animation and music to the plot lines and characters, each beta game holds true to its creator’s bold and intense vision.

The five finalists (in alphabetical order) and their game concept if voted the winner are:

1. “Doritos Dash of Destruction” by Mike Borland of Sewickley, PA

In “Doritos Dash of Destruction,” players can choose to control one of two characters. Either a hungry T-Rex chasing a delivery truck loaded with crunchy Doritos tortilla chips or the delivery truck driver, racing to escape the clutches of the T-Rex. As the chase begins havoc ensues as the lumbering dino barrels through the completely destructible city resulting in an intense game of cat-and-mouse.

2. “Doritos Presents UDC: Ultimate Dodgeball Champions” by Devan Moore of Panama City, FL

In this futuristic dodgeball game, inspired by Devan’s favorite childhood game and the intensity of Doritos, players start by creating a customized team from a handful of colorful characters. Then, using special “power up” features to create fire balls, teams go at it in futuristic stadiums and compete for ultimate dodgeball dominance.

3. “Monkeys from Mt. Doritos” by Juanito Lagasco, of Algonquin, IL

In this quick-play, high-fun, retro-style game, one or more people play as monkeys that collect Doritos chips exploding out of Mt. Doritos. The more Doritos players collect, the more points they earn and the closer they get to winning. But, watch out as fellow monkeys and lurking monsters want to steal your prized Doritos chips.

4. “PB’s Quest for Flavor” by Jeremy Mattsen of Colorado Springs, CO

In “PB’s Quest for Flavor,” PB - the game’s pill bug hero - goes on his quest for the perfect chip flavor. Throughout the game, favorite Doritos flavors are introduced as weapons giving PB unique abilities. With the strength and power of Doritos, players guide PB through a household of obstacles and enemies to successfully complete his quest.

5. “Rythum Racing” by Kenneth Parker of Warner Robins, GA

In this original racing game, players turn up the volume in game play as they import song files and use music to “drive” the game. Players race around the equalizer race track, where sounds, beats and rhythms will alter the track. Deep bass sounds for example might cause the race track to ripple, throwing the race cars up in the air while other elements of the music generate power-ups.

In addition to playing and voting on the beta games, between now and November 18, 2007 fans can also get in the game by visiting www.snackstrongproductions.com for a chance to instantly win great prize packages including Xbox 360 consoles, Xbox LIVE Gold subscriptions and more. Details, including rules, will be available on the site during the promotion period.
